Free Early Education for 3 & 4-year-olds (FEE)

Shatterlocks Nursery offers the funded 15-hour entitlement for parents of three and four-year-olds (The Universal Entitlement) and the 30 hours entitlement for working parents of three and four-year-olds (The Extended Entitlement) from the full term after their 3rd birthday.

A child born in the period

Will become eligible for a free place

1 January to 31 March (inclusive) The start of Term 5 following their third birthday (after Easter holiday)
1 April to 31 August (inclusive) The start of Term 1 following their third birthday (after Summer holiday)
1 September to 31 December The start of Term 3 following their third birthday (after Christmas/New Year holiday)

Shatterlocks Nursery is open 38 weeks per year, during term time only, in line with Shatterlocks Infant School term dates, which are published annually. Parents are required to complete and sign the Parental Declaration which states when children will be attending nursery and gives Shatterlocks Nursery permission to claim funding for their child.

Universal Funding is offered in 3-hour blocks (9.00am – 12.00pm or 12.00pm – 3.00pm) and we offer the parents the flexibly, depending on availability, to choose up to 5 sessions to use their full 15 hours funding entitlement. Parents entitled to 30 hours extended childcare will be offered Monday to Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm, again, depending on availability.

We do not make settling in sessions or staggered starts a condition of a child accessing their funding at the Nursery. Shatterlocks Nursery does not charge for registering a child or require any deposit prior to starting.

As the nursery is only open during term-time, in line with the whole school, a child may not be able to access their full funding entitlement if they join part way through the academic year.

Free for Two (FF2)

Shatterlocks Nursery is registered under the Free for 2 (FF2) Scheme which entitles eligible 3-year-olds 15 hours of free nursery education, before their 3 and 4-year-old entitlement is available, a term after their third birthday. Shatterlocks Nursery does not accept children under the age of 3 years old. Children can be admitted into nursery from their third birthday, either under the Free for 2 Scheme or at a price of £15.00 per session. Alternatively, they can be admitted a term following their third birthday under the 3 and 4-years old free early education funding.

FF2 funding is not a universal offer. Shatterlocks Nursery can advise parents of the FF2 criteria and eligibility checking process. If using FF2 funding, parents are required to complete and sign the Parental Declaration which states when children will be attending Shatterlocks Nursery and gives us permission to claim funding for their child.

FF2 funding is offered in 3-hour blocks (9.00am – 12.00pm or 12.00pm – 3.00pm) and we offer the parents the flexibly, depending on availability, to choose up to 5 sessions to use their full 15 hours funding entitlement. Again, as the nursery is only open during term-time, in line with the whole school, a child may not be able to access their full funding entitlement if they join part way through the academic year.
